Jockeys


Article: 66

No person shall ride in any Race unless he has obtained a seasonal Jockeys license and paid the appropriate fee. An application for such a license should meet the requirements listed below :-

a)     The Owner or the Trainer should apply to the Steward Committee for approval of his foreign Jockeys with the following documents:

   1) A current certificate of good-conduct from a recognized racing authority

   2)   Copy of the Passport and igama showing his job Jockey as.

 b) If the Jockey is a Saudi he must provide a recommendation from two of the Clubs Licensed Trainers together with:

1)    Certificate of good conduct from the last race  course in which he participated.

2)    Copy of the ID.

3)    Medical certificate to prove fitness  for riding.

4)   Two photos.

Article: 67

Apprentice Jockeys:

Apprentice Jockeys should be between 16 and 25 years of age; they should be employed by Licensed Trainer or with one of the racing stables in Saudi Arabia. They should submit the following papers:

a)  certificate of good conduct from the last race  course in which he participated.

b)    Copy of the ID.

c)     Medical Certificate for riding fitness.

d)    Two Photos.

e)     An Apprentice who reaches the age of 25 years cannot claim his Apprentice Weight Allowance and must immediately apply for a full Jockeys License before he can ride again.

Article: 68

Apprentices licensed to ride in races have right to claim the weight allowances in races as follows:

a

In  case of non winning

5kgs

b

Following winning of  (1) races up to (5)

4kgs

c

Following winning of  (5) races up to (10)

3kgs

d

Following winning of  (10) races up to (20)

2kgs

e

Following winning of  (20) races up to (25)

1kgs

f

After exceeding (25) wins

0

g

After 25 wins an Apprentice must apply for a Full Jockeys license  before he can ride again, regardless to his age

 

Article: 69

a)   An Apprentice and his Trainer must report each winning  ride to the Registration Office . An Apprentice’s allowance remains as it was at the start of each race day irrespective of winning rides during that day. Apprentice allowances may be claimed in all races unless the  conditions of the race state that they are not permitted.

 

b)  An Apprentice must abide by his agreement with his Trainer . In case of non-ability  to ride he must report to stewards in sufficient time before the race.

c)   An Apprentice must observe the assigned hors number as per the program. Put the number on the arms before riding as well as his ballot number,  and enter his assigned place in the  starting gate.

d)  An Apprentice must take care of his Stable  or other Owners uniform and wear the correct and approved Racing  Helmet and body protector.

Article: 70

Apprentice Jockeys  have the right for  half of the fees of Full Jockeys.

Article: 71

Jockeys are paid SR100 for riding each horse; ten Riyals of which are taken for the Registration.

Article: 72

The Jockey  has the right to 10% of the prize money allowed to his placing in the  five positions , and 5% of the value  of the car gained by  the winning horse which he has ridden.
